Short Answer

CBT/WBT also has the ability to ask short answer questions for review or testing purposes. Short answer questions require the student to type in the correct answer. Whereas with True/False and Multiple-Choice questions there is a fixed number of answers to choose from, with Short-Answer questions, care has to be given listing all possible variations of the correct answer (including alternate and close spellings) in the correct answer listing.

One main benefit of Short-Answer questions is that you can test the students at a higher level of recall. With True/False and Multiple-Choice questions, the student could get lucky and select the correct answer from the list of possible answers. With Short-Answer, they have to type in the correct answer, without a list of possible answers to choose from.
