Our Story

The Amelia Arts Academy New Horizons Concert Band was formed in 2004. The band is composed of men and women from Amelia Island and the surrounding area.

According to director emeritus Dr. John Mitchum, "One of the benefits of the New Horizons Band is that people do not have that feeling of intimidation when joining a musical group like ours. Many member who join haven't picked up their instruments for many years." Eric O'Steen (one of the tuba players) says that "It's been 30 years or more since I played in a band setting, but it all comes back to you there are some very talented people in our group and with the practices we just keep getting better."

Membership

The Amelia Arts Academy New Horizons Concert Band is open to any musician (strings, woodwind, brass, or percussion).
